Our approach

The 239 Way.

Two men, one movement, and a studio in Fort Myers carrying it on.

Where it comes from.

Before there were gyms on every corner there was physical culture — the century-old idea that a strong, disciplined body makes a strong, disciplined mind. Two men came out of that movement and changed everything.

1883
Joseph Pilates is born in Germany. A sickly boy who rebuilt himself through gymnastics and boxing, he opened a small New York studio in 1926 and coached people personally on equipment he built with his own hands.
1914
Jack LaLanne is born in San Francisco. He quit sugar at fifteen after one lecture and in 1936 opened America’s first modern health club — the Physical Culture Studio, Oakland — weights, nutrition and a juice bar under one roof.
1945
Joe publishes Return to Life through Contrology: 34 mat exercises. The reformer and tower were his tools for teaching them.
1951
Jack takes exercise into American living rooms with a chair, a towel and a television show that runs 34 years — and tells women and older adults to lift weights when doctors said not to.
2026
FusionFit239™, Fort Myers. The whole method, on every apparatus, with nutrition in the room.

Four things we believe.

Method over machine

We teach the principles. The equipment serves them — mat, reformer, tower, barre, rebounder, strength machines. The control is the same on all of them.

Springs, not impact

Joe used springs because they’re kind to joints. We put them under your feet too. Low impact is the non-negotiable; a raised heart rate is the reward.

Fusion

One workout, not three memberships. Core and control, strength, cardio and rhythm — in the same room, often in the same hour. It’s the name.

Real food

Jack’s rule: “If man made it, don’t eat it.” We don’t hand out meal plans. We do talk about what you eat, because the hour you spend here is only half the job.

“The only way you can hurt the body is not use it. Inactivity is the killer — and remember, it’s never too late.”Jack LaLanne
